nice price deal !!! this second release from glasgows fortified recordings is a departure in sound from their first acclaimed ep by dundees loops haunt, but all the same in attitude. iranian born, texas residing garagesmith vvv uses his late night musical tests to forge and perfect his sonic output, and deploys a range of techniques not normally found in the often formulaic world of garage and dubstep. this patchwork quilt of laced beats, field recordings and intensive sample editing has made manifest a four track ep that simultaneously references the work steve gurley, todd edwards, carl craig, my bloody valentine, the cocteau twins and roy davis junior via the bastardised strains of 2-step and house practiced by the likes of ramadanman, untold and joy orbison, peppered with that magic elusive el_b swing that only the greats are able to achieve. at the same time familiar yet different (how many times have you heard that?), the four tracks on projects kick with the intensity of the best club music and invokes the cosmic spirit of classic motor city techno with an uplifting and deep soulful vibe that reveals layers of orchestrated natural sound upon repeated listens. in other words, its sexy as fuck. slated for an official release early march , one can only assume this limited 12inch will fly off the shelf much like fortified s inaugural release did

here comes the second release on the pattern repeat label. pattern repeat is a new music-project and label by kenneth christiansen, echocord & echocord colour label boss, and his partner dennis bøg aka resoe, running the baum label.the pattern repeat label will only contains productions from kenneth & dennis, and the music is focused on the modern berlin techno sound today, dubstep and dub-techno. pattern repeat will also release records on other labels, so far the first one is out on echocord colour. kenneth and dennis met eachother 8 years ago when they worked together in at that time famous copenhagen-record-shop >loud<, which closed 5 years ago. at that time dennis was more into broken beat, hip-hop and deep house. kenneth was already running the label echocord, and soon dennis started his label baum. the label baum is also like echocord, releasing dub-techno, and dennis started to release his own material as resoe, and builded up his studio the years after. 1 year ago we decided to try to do a new project together, working together in the studio, and now pattern repeat is born.

here is finally the first single from yakine, a close member to the eklo family. after his featuring on the hooksey vol.1, he gave us four tracks which he worked specially for this ep. yakine explored a new sound, some more melodic and deeper works, different from his usual stuff. captor of sin, the main track here. we find yakine in a more pop dimension with the vocals. the metric rhythm is mix it up with sub and perky shuffle grooves, everything harmonized through a lead ambiance made of weird synts & pads. then shirp, lead from synths, the track go on in the same vibe, more excentric and percussive, rounded beat, and a slap bass, 80s funk type. on the flip, temptation, a more singular track, a great detroit techno influenced, with his unusual keys and some indus sounds. the story ending with aferone, a deep and sensitive balad, overhang by a poetic piano coming and going all along. solid and versatile 12 inch.

bvdub and sofie loizou are two passioned artists who have a special collaboration on this southern outpost offshoot! sofie loizou is at the forefront of the electronic music scene in australia and brock van wey (bvdub)is one of america s most prolific electronical artists known for his excellent deep house and dubby techno releases! the ep is evocative and wistful, enveloping the listener in a dream state. the two made an equisite piece of lush ambient techno with vocals of the polish natalia grosiak (produced by polish sound artist dawid szczesny). the combination of natalia s enchanting vocals and exquisite textural sound beds creates a sublime experience of blissful melancholy. this is a highly limited run of only 200 copies... yeah we know.. it s crazy to have a bvdub collaboration this limited... but its just a fun project of southern outpost and friends! don t sleep
